In my defense my chemistry teacher was horribly bad.
Do you think it's too hard? I remember learning the sin of a triangle in grade 5!

I think the only way to reply without risking any of that would be to provide a self-deprecating remark.
Something like... I'm a geek and know these things, because I have no life.
While you obviously have not just a life, but a great life and since you've spent so much time enjoying your life, you don't know the answers to these science questions, because only people with no lives have time to learn those answers.
So, in essence, while I may be smarter than you, this smartness implies negative things about me and I am ashamed to admit it. You are clearly a better person than I.
