Go to China to lose weight

Source: Straits Times

THREE American men have taken the unusual step of moving to China in an extreme attempt to shed huge amounts of weight at a fat reduction clinic - and have become surprise local celebrities.

Mr Alonzo Bland, 33, and brothers Walt and David Anderson, 56 and 50, have lived in the northern Chinese city of Tianjin since the middle of this year as part of an effort to break away from their unhealthy lifestyles back home.

Together, they have lost a combined 192kg and are aiming to shed over 100 more.

Let's do a quick unscientific study as too why you can lose weight based on a Chinese diet.

Breakfast
Chinese: Congee, soup
Canada: Cereal, Muffin
Advantage: Even

Lunch
Chinese: Dim Sum, Pastries, Vietnamese Subs
Canada: Burger/Fries, Subway, Donair
Advantage: Canada is a bit more filling with the burger/fries

Dinner
Chinese: Rice/Stirfry, Fried Noodles
Canada: Steak, Pasta
Advantage: Canada by far, huge dinner portions.

Sometime it's scary to see what people eat for lunch here. The other day our boss took us out for lunch at an all you can eat buffet. $15 for anything on the table (cold meats, pasta, bread, soup, everything). For lunch! Usually I just have a sandwich and granola bar for lunch.

And dinner is even worse. 16oz steaks... unlimited pasta bowls and bread sticks.
In China the food can be fattening too but in much smaller portions.

People in Canada and US eat way too much.
