Honour and family values isn't always a great thing. Some men feel so responsible for well-being of their family that they take full responsibility for its failure.
The extreme consequence is usually murder-suicide. The thoughts behind this selfish are : my wife cannot marry someone else... cannot have someone else take care of my kid. If I'm dying they're coming with me. It's very sad and often times it is the thought-process of the Asian man.
