Edison Chen: CNN Interview

Unless you've been living under a rock you already know about the Edison Chen Sex Photo scandal. Here is his first formal interview since the incident last year.

Source: CNN TalkAsia

He has been at the center of Asia's biggest sex scandal, but now actor Edison Chen has broken his silence on the public episode that has ended careers and caused him to face at least one reported death threat.

Talking exclusively to CNN on his return to Hong Kong, where he had been forging a career in the movies, Chen reveals his side of the scandal that broke in early last year when hundreds of sexually explicit photos of Chen with other celebrities turned up on the Internet.

"There's been a lot of talk through the past year and a half about this or that and a lot of rumors, a lot of hearsay, and I feel, you know, I've kept quiet just to kind of respect everyone and respect the law," Chen told CNN

There are 3 parts: Scandal, Photos and The Women.

If the embeded videos don't work they can be seen here The embedding on CNN is working at times.. it's kind of stupid.

What do you think? I thought he sounded very upfront and sincere. The pictures are very old and his current girlfriend made him delete everything "empty trashcan".

And again the people who spread his photos are so stupid. No money? No blackmail? Just for laughs? Hope the guy rots in jail.

Hong Kong technician jailed over celebrity sex pics

Can I come out and play now?

Source: Asiaone

A Hong Kong computer technician was Wednesday jailed for eight and a half months for stealing more than 1,000 sexually explicit photos of singer Edison Chen with a string of starlets.

Sze Ho-chun, an employee of computer shop Elite Multimedia, was sentenced by magistrate Tong Man at Kowloon City Magistrates' Court.

Sze had copied 1,300 sex photos from Chen's laptop when the Canadian-born singer-actor brought it in for repairs in 2006.

The prosecution said that the 24-year-old saved the images of Chen and other local celebrities on a compact disc, which he then passed to another of his customers.

The images began spreading online in February last year and sparked one of the city's biggest sex scandals.

The photos, which Chen has admitted taking himself, showed him in compromising positions with celebrities including Canto-pop star Gillian Chung, actress Cecilia Cheung and former actress Bobo Chan.

The scandal saw Chen flee to his childhood home of Canada and damaged the careers of several of the stars involved.

Sze had been found guilty at an earlier hearing on three counts of obtaining access to a computer with a view to dishonest gain for himself or another.

Eight and a half months doesn't seem enough.

A) This has been in the news since early 2008 so the ordeal has lasted longer than the sentence will be.

B) The victims involved have lost alot and will continue to lose

C) Alot of normal guys were traumatized after looking at those awful pictures. Where's the justice for them! :)

Computer technician who leaked Edison Chen's sex photos found guilty, faces jail time

Source: channelnewsasia

In Hong Kong, a computer technician who leaked sex pictures of disgraced pop idol Edison Chen with female stars, has been found guilty, and faces a maximum of five years in jail. Sentencing will take place on May 13.

The celebrity sex photo case was the biggest scandal to hit Hong Kong's entertainment scene last year.

24-year-old Sze Ho Chun appeared in Kowloon City's magistracy on Wednesday, and was found guilty of stealing, copying and distributing about 1,300 photos showing actor Chen having sex with at least half a dozen women, including several Hong Kong starlets.

In his defence, Sze's lawyer said that his client was being made a scapegoat by those hiding their involvement in the case. In particular, fellow co-worker Chris Tse and shop owner Terry Ip were both accused of being untruthful witnesses.

But Chief Magistrate Tong Man was satisfied with the evidence put forward by prosecutors, adding that jail time was inevitable, in view of the serious breach of trust.

The lewd images that Sze stole became widely circulated on the Web in late January last year, and he was arrested by police in February.

Chen was forced to quit showbiz and fled the country, going into self-exile in Canada.

Female celebrities including Canto-pop star Gillian Chung, actress Cecilia Cheung and singer Bobo Chan have also been keeping a low profile.

He'll probably get the maximum. He may be a scapegoat but it was pretty clear he stole the pictures and put them on the internet? What was his motive? Money? Fame? Stupidity?

I think he was dumb. If I had these pictures and wanted to make money, I'd have secretly called the tabloids and make a fortune. It's hard for celebs to sue tabloids and media always protects it's sources. Gotta strategize you know! Leak pictures slowly and maximize profit.

I don't understand this guy's thinking. What was the point of plastering 1300 photos on the internet for people to see for free? Maybe he'll smarten up in jail.

Japanese pop star Kusanagi Tsuyoshi arrested

Source: BBC

The career of one of Japan's biggest pop stars, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, appears to hang in the balance after he was arrested for being naked and drunk in a public park.

Japan's interior minister has even weighed in, describing the incident as "one of worst acts one can do".

Roland Buerk reports from Tokyo on a case that is gripping the nation.

Video report

It's a very big blow. As I had mentioned in a previous post. Reports suggest DiCaprio is considering casting famous male group SMAP as the leads in the live action Ninja Scroll. He is said to be intent to “cast with Japanese people” in the adaptation, which he acquired the rights to last year. That's definitely out the window now.

Naked and drunk in a public park? How does that happen? Years and years of hard work being the most popular band in Japan all thrown away in a single night. Now he's screwed himself and affected all those around him. Very sad indeed.

AV Stars Not Amused by Chinese Web Fuss

Source: Japan Zone

There has been a furor in the Chinese media about a planned event in the city of Guangzhou featuring some of Japan's top porn actresses. The problem is that the event itself seems to have been a work of pure Web fiction. Several Chinese newspapers published stories about the heated discussions happening on the Web, with citizens protesting the location and timing of the event. It was to take place near a memorial to Chinese who died in the Sino-Japanese War and on the eve of an important anniversary. Others Web posts talked about how the event, to be held at a bar in the center of the city, was reasonably priced compared to similar events in Hong Kong. The newspapers said that protests against the event has reached such a level that it had to be canceled. Hong Kong's Singtao Daily named two of the actresses, which only served to bring more attention to the story. But spokespeople for "AV" actresses Aoi Sora (25, shown above) and Matsushima Kaede (26) said they had never even heard of the event let alone received an invite to China. Aoi said on her blog that she was furious that her name and photo had been abused on the Web. "But it has taught me that there are the same prejudices against adult entertainment overseas (as in Japan)," she said.

You know that something has to be really improper when porn stars are insulted! No matter what sort of business, you can't use people's names without their permission.

Computer technician behind Edison Chen sex photo leak

Source: Asiaone

More details have emerged from the trial of the computer technician who is charged with illegally accessing Edison Chen's computer and distributing racy photos of him and numerous starlets.

According to Lianhe Wanbao, two female friends testified against Sze Ho-chun, 24. They were also the ones who reported him to the police when the photos started being widely distributed on the Internet in January 2008.

They say that in 2006, when he was at their store to repair an Apple PowerMacG5, he connected his computer to the company server to show them the racy photos.

He then burnt about 1,300 photos onto DVDs and passed it to them as gifts, and even told them how he obtained the images.

Sze Ho-chun, an employee of computer shop Elite Multimedia, saw the images on Edison Chen's laptop when the Canadian-born singer-actor brought it in for repair work in 2006, prosecutor Hayson Tse told the Kowloon City Magistracy.

He was shown the photos by a colleague who was repairing Edison's computer and duplicated them in private.

He has been charge with three counts of obtaining access to a computer with dishonest intent, and may be sentence to five years imprisonment is found guilty.

Sze allegedly sparked one of the city's biggest sex scandals when the photos, which Chen has admitted taking himself, were plastered across the Internet for weeks in February last year.

Seems very clear to me. Who needs a trial? A collegue shows this guy the photos. It's supposed to be in-house. You know how guys are. Nudge nudge wink wink check out the naked photos of these girls. But this guy went way to far. First of all burning them onto DVD, then showing girls (who of course will be disgusted!) and then plastered them all over the internet, hoping to make a buck and be famous.

He famous now! Five years in jail please!

Trial opens in Hong Kong celebrity sex scandal

Source: channelnewsasia

A computer technician pleaded not guilty in a Hong Kong court Monday to illegally copying and distributing more than 1,000 photos of a Hong Kong actor performing sex acts with a string of starlets.

Sze Ho-chun, an employee of computer shop Elite Multimedia, saw the images on Edison Chen's laptop when the Canadian-born singer-actor brought it in for repair work in 2006, prosecutor Hayson Tse told the Kowloon City Magistracy.

Sze then copied the images on to a computer server which was connected to the Internet, Tse said.

At the start of his 10-day trial, Sze pleaded not guilty to three counts of obtaining access to a computer with a view to dishonest gain for himself or anther.

The prosecution said that Sze saved 1,300 sex photos of Chen and other local celebrities on a compact disc and passed the disc to another of his customers. He also told the customer how to access the images on the Internet.

The 24-year-old Sze allegedly sparked one of the city's biggest sex scandals when the photos, which Chen has admitted taking himself, were plastered across the Internet for weeks in February last year.

The pictures showed Chen in compromising positions with celebrities including Canto-pop star Gillian Chung, actress Cecilia Cheung and former actress Bobo Chan.

The incident caused a storm in the celebrity-obsessed city and sent Chen fleeing to his childhood home of Canada.

He is so clearly guilty. How else could 1300 photos get released to the public? He stole them from the pink laptop and spread them around. He thought he could be famous and tapping into someone's privacy. He was selfish and just wanted fame, without any regard for what would happen to the victims. He should be convicted and sent away for a long long time.

Gillian Chung - 'I blame myself'

Source: Electric Newpaper

NO PRIVACY, no dignity and no future for herself. That's how Cantopop star Gillian Chung felt after intimate pictures of her and actor Edison Chen were leaked online.

'I showed everything to everyone, and no matter what I do, I'll get the blame. But dignity is the most important thing,' she said.

Gillian broke her silence more than a year after the incident in an interview on TVB's Be My Guest series, hosted by TVB general manager Stephen Chan Chi Wan.

The interview is due to be screened today, reported the South China Morning Post.

In an excerpt of the interview aired on the evening news in Hong Kong earlier this week, Gillian said that she was so devastated after the scandal broke last January that she thought about killing herself.

When asked who she blamed most for the scandal, a teary-eyed Gillian, who is half of Cantopop duo Twins, replied: 'I blame myself - I blame myself for all of it.

'I blame myself for doing something so stupid.'

She added that the scandal had put 'immense stress' on her, and that she had briefly contemplated suicide, because she was 'disillusioned' and 'could not see a future for herself'.

She said: 'But if I died, all my problems will be passed on to the people around me - the people who care about me would be very sad.

'That's why I eventually banished that thought (of suicide).'

A very sincere interview on tv where she described what she was going through. She blames herself and is not mad as Edison but she does wish he apologized, which is understandable although at the time I think Edison was running for his life!

She should get more sympathy from this interview from viewers, although even as a girl, I find it hard to understand how you can fall that much in love that you would do such stupid things. The interview was a sharp contrast to Cecilia Cheungs interview last week where she just lashed out, took no responsibility, and blamed everyone she could think of.

Cecilia Cheung: Edison is despicable!

Source: AsiaOne

In a rare interview yesterday, Hong Kong star Cecilia Cheung spoke for the first time about fellow celebrity Edison Chen, with whom she was involved in a sex photo scandal last year.

A Lianhe Wanbao story reported her calling Chen "despicable" and that he was "dishonest, unreliable and caused a lot of hurt to his fellow female celebrities."

The interview, which took place in Hong Kong yesterday evening (26 February), saw Cheung admit for the first time her involvement in the scandal.

Looking directly at the camera, a teary-eyed Cheung said, "I admit that I committed this mistake!"

The Wanbao report also said that Cheung cried a second time when she spoke about her husband, Hong Kong star Nicolas Tse. She thanked Tse for his forgiveness and him staying by her side during this difficult time.

"It is very difficult to find such a good husband." Cheung told the interviewer, before breaking down.

In February last year, a few hundred obscene photos of Edison Chen pictured in various sex acts with some four female celebrities were posted onto the Internet. Chen had since testified in a Canadian court confirming that Cheung was among the four women in the pictures.

Of course she's married with a child now so what else can she say? She can't just say that Edison is a nice guy and she supports him now can she?

But in the end it's her fault. Girls always have to be careful. I have to be careful who I see and what I'm doing. When I go out I have to watch for things like drugs and cameras. Especially now when there are camera phones and video phones!

Edison may be despicable, but she's the only lying there naked posing for pictures. It's not like these pictures were taken in secrecy and she was fooled.

And yes, those pictures still give some people nightmares :P

Edison Chen: Not all photos taken by me

Source: The Straits Times

VANCOUVER - EDISON Chen says he did not take all of the sex photos that set off an online firestorm last year. About 40 of them were shot by one of the Chinese Canadian singer-actor's partners, who was not identified, and given to him on a CD.

This was one of the facts to emerge from the British Columbia hearing on Monday, when Chen gave evidence against Sze Ho Chun, a computer technician accused of stealing the pictures.

Chen's former lovers are expected to be called as witnesses at Sze's Hong Kong trial, which is scheduled for April.

According to Apple Daily, Chen explained why only about 400 pictures were leaked on the Internet. Out of 1,300 stolen photos police showed him on a CD last year, many were repetitions or pictures of daily life that had no market value, he told the court.

Pictures of markets don't sell, only sex sells. This Sze guy was purely evil.
These girls were so nice to Edison. Even taking picture of themselves naked in their free time!

Source: The Toronto Star

VANCOUVER – With his mother by his side and surrounded by burly bodyguards, pop star Edison Chen, whose naked photos were plastered over the Internet, said he wants to move on with his life after a year of unhappiness.

An earnest and solemn Chen, speaking at the end of his court hearing in Vancouver, said the futures of the women affected in the photo scandal, including some of Hong Kong most well-known female stars, are more important to him than anything else.

Just over a year ago, Chen, who was raised in Vancouver, got caught with his pants down - literally. Pictures he had taken over the past few years in intimate poses with female celebrities were posted on the Internet.

Chen, 28, was scheduled to appear over the next five days in a Vancouver courtroom but the hearing ended Tuesday after just a day. Prosecutors and defence lawyers, who had traveled to Vancouver for the hearing in B.C. Supreme Court because Chen refused to return to Hong Kong, finished their questions earlier then expected.

I do hope they jail Sze when the case gets back to Honk Kong and everyone can move on. But I'll find it hard for any of the girls to find work since the roles they used to play were seen as wholesome and innocent.

Edison Chen testifies

Source: Globe and Mail
Source: Toronto Star

VANCOUVER – Asian pop star Edison Chen, who fled Hong Kong in disgrace a year ago after nude photos of himself with other celebrities were posted on the Internet, is scheduled to appear in an unusual court hearing today in Vancouver.

After months of silence, Chen, a singer and actor who grew up in Vancouver and is one of Asia's most recognized celebrities, is to testify before a Hong Kong judge and lawyers over the next five days. A Canadian judge and Hong Kong's chief magistrate will be co-commissioners at the hearing as Hong Kong police question Chen.

The hearing is taking place in Vancouver because Chen, 28, refused to return to Hong Kong to give evidence at the trial of computer technician Sze Ho-Chun, who is facing charges of distributing via the Internet pictures of the actor having sex with female celebrities.

"This is part of the judicial proceedings. Since the proceedings are in progress, no further details can be disclosed," an official with the Hong Kong police said in an email to the Toronto Star.

Chen's fame skyrocketed after the photos appeared and Google said last December his name was the most searched in Asia.

Other polls in Asia put him behind only U.S. President Barack Obama as the news person of the year and more newsworthy than the Beijing Olympics, the devastating earthquake in China's Sichuan province and the tainted milk scandal.

Chen's trouble began after he took his broken laptop in for repairs in Hong Kong.

Shortly afterwards, explicit photos of him with different women, some identifiable as famous actresses, singers and models, began appearing online.

Strange case. Not sure what they're trying to determine here in Canada. Edison should just go back to Hong Kong in April and testify against Sze. I hope the computer repairman gets convicted. What an evil thing to do just for some notoriety. I hope he gets famous in jail!

Gillian Chung is coming back

Source: Yahoo

Gillian Chung, whose career was badly affected by the outburst of sex photo scandal involving Edison Chen last year, will be resuming work next month by starting on movie and commercial shoots. Chung may also be answering a talk show invite where she will reveal her life and emotions after the scandal in the past year.

Her first strike back into showbiz will be James Yuen's new movie, where the role as a third party in a relationship is said to be "made-to-measure" for her. Her partner in girl group, Twins, Charlene Choi will cast as the "official girlfriend" in the love triangle. According to Hong Kong media reports, CEO of Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), Albert Yeung, has invited Andy Lau, who has a healthy image, to "shield" Chung in a successful return, by casting together in several movies.

Some people have all the luck eh? Be the main player in a scandal and still get rescued by everyone. Don't you wish you were this lucky?

What do you all think? She's fairly cute but nothing special that you'd die without her. She can't really sing without a partner. She can't really act in the few roles that she's been in. She can't act without Charlene Choi who can act alone.

How does she comes back after this scandal? Her entire image is the squeaky clean girl. Can she play a villain? Can she play a femme fatal? Can she play a role that a younger actress out of film school can't play? Cause if they cast her again as the innocent cutie-pie girl then it's just be embarrassing.

She's very ordinary. So she's going to go on a show like "Oprah" and cry. Some people may feel sorry for her but most will always be reminded of those sex pictures whenever they see her in commercials. Especially the older generation.

If it was a more famous person like Gong Li or Zhang Ziyi or Maggie Q then the world would welcome a comeback from unfortunate circumstances. But Gillian is nobody. I think it's a big mistake by these film companies and there will be a backlash.

Sex In China 2008

Woooow, he's so hot! He was one of my favorite actors before the scandal. He still is but he's out of the business. Could you imagine with the lead role in "21" instead of that other douche? It would have been perfect!

Source: Variety

Anyways, the reason you see a picture of Edison Chan is because his scandal is the Top Sex-related incident in China in 2008 as people were curious to find out more about his sexy picture leaks and trysts with other starlets.

Lust, Caution being banned was #2.
