China shuts down 84 more porn websites
BEIJING - China shut down another 84 websites on Wednesday for containing "pornographic and lewd content", bringing the total number of blocked sites in the month-long campaign against such sites to 175.
The Special Operation Office for the Crackdown on Online Porn and Lewd Content said in a statement that government departments would step up efforts to continue to close illegal websites and "severe penalties" would be meted out to those who violated the law.
OK. That's fine, it's great they're cracking down.
But then...
2008 China Lingerie Model Contest
A model presents a creation for the finals of 2008 China Lingerie Model Contest in Nanning, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, December 28, 2008.
Excuse me? A REGIONAL Lingerie Contest? How many regions are in China? 888888? This is 2009! They don't even have lingerie model contests in the US and any lingerie show on tv is chastized! Is the annual Victoria Secret Lingerie show still on tv?
So they want to ban all porn, even if it's legal but parade girls in bikinis in every region. Incredible.

Pfft! There's an ocean of difference between porn and state sponsored lingerie contests!
Besides, the REAL story is why China is ready to crack down on pornographic websites, while simultaneously ready to offer state funding and training for people to create/distribute malicious software. :D
