Football Brawl: Beijing Guo An vs. Singapore Young Lions

Last night at the Jalan Besar stadium during a Singapore Professional Football League match, a player brawl incident between both the Beijing Guo An team and the Young Lions team occurred, causing the game to be ended by the referee. The Football Association of Singapore has already gotten involved, initiating an investigation into this rare incident of violence on the pitch.

This is the first brawl between players to occur this year in the Singapore League. At the 89th minute of last night’s match between the Beijing Guo An team and Young Lions, for unknown reasons, the two sides suddenly clashed.

Seemed innocent enough at first then out of control.

Of course it's the refs fault, absolutely clueless. Watch the tackle at 1:52. The ref rushes up and gives a YELLOW CARD! SO stupid. He should have gave out red cards at the beginning of the video and none of this would have happened.

Night Racing! Singapore GP

I watched the Singapore GP this morning. What a beautiful sight to see F1 racing at night! It looked like a grueling course that was long and with alot of turns. The drivers looked exhausted by the end.

I can fly! Megazip Park

The sun, sand and the sea. All the things you'd associate with Sentosa. Now add air to the equation and the southern island becomes Asia's favourite play.

A new attraction, MegaZip Adventure Park, will soon take you 75 metres high and fly over Siloso beach to a little island out at sea.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Looks fun! Everyone ever been there?

I would really like the ZIP down on that, but how do you get up there? I'm lazy, I don't like walking :P

And the park is only $29 per person. That's pretty cheap!

First China, then Vietnam... now Myanmar brides?

Source: Asiaone

MOVE over, Vietnam brides. Here come the Myanmar maidens.

Aged between 20 and 35, they are ethnic Chinese who can speak Mandarin and cook Chinese meals.

So they would find it easier to adapt to life in Singapore, said Mr Mark Lin of Vietnam Brides International, who's offering his customers a wider choice of brides.

Mr Lin, who had specialised in Vietnam brides since 2003, said: 'I have to teach Vietnamese girls Mandarin if they don't speak it. But these Myanmar women are already fluent in the language.'

He said the women are keen to marry Singaporean men because they want better lives outside Myanmar, which has been under military rule since 1988.

While agencies offering Vietnamese brides charge between $6,000 and $8,000, Mr Lin charges $8,800 for Myanmar brides.

I wonder what contry will be next when men get bored of Myanmar brides? what's wrong with Singaporean brides anyways?

Sex in the air?

If only stewardesses looked like Hsu Chi eh? Then we'd have a real story to talk about.

Source: Asiaone

ONCE, she caught an air stewardess under her charge engaging in hanky panky with an Australian passenger in the plane's toilet.

Another time, she claimed, a local 'leading man' told her that he had sex with an air stewardess in the crew bunk.

Such tales of sexual trysts at 35,000 feet are revealed in a new tell-all book, The Mile Hi! Club: Memoirs Of A Stewardess, by former air stewardess Janet Chew, 35.

The title is a pun on the term 'mile high club', which refers to people who have had sex in the air.

All the names in the book - launched last Wednesday - have been changed and the airline Ms Chew worked with is also not named, except it is 'reputably one of the best in the world'.

Ms Chew, who quit flying last year, worked for the airline for 13 years.

So is Ms Chew, who is married with a son, a member of the mile high club?

'That is a very interesting question,' she said, before laughing.

After a pause, and some explanation of her stand against such behaviour, she said: 'A big no!'

Suuuuuuuuure. Everyone else was doing it but you weren't. And you feel to outraged that you're going to write a book about it to make money. Suuuuuuuure.

I don't know what's the worst act. The person who has sex on the job or the person who secretly rats on them and profits on it.

Secretary accidentally bites off boss’ penis

Source: Star Online

A SECRETARY accidentally bit off the penis of her employer while giving him oral sex in a car.

Sin Chew Daily and China Press reported yesterday that while the 30-year-old woman was performing oral sex on the man, the car was hit by a reversing van.

The impact of the crash, China Press reported, caused the woman to bite off her lover’s organ.

The daily reported that the incident occurred in a Singapore park where the couple met after work.

To make matters worse for the woman, her husband had sent a private investigator to spy on her after suspecting that she was being unfaithful.

The investigator said he had followed the woman and her boss to the park.

"I found out my husband is gay"

gay

Source: Asiaone

34-year-old ad executive Serena Goh thought she had a good marriage and husband, and had always respected her husband Damien’s privacy. But she never expected to find out his secret. She tells her story to Simply Her.

Their courtship began after they met at a birthday party for a mutual friend. One year later, Damien proposed to Serena during a trip to Hong Kong. Another year later, they were happily married, and friends and family were sure their mariage would last. They were even talking about having children.

When things were going well, Serena told Simply Her that 32-year-old Damien became close to his colleague, Jeremy. As a sales manager, he often travelled for work, and the two soon began travelling together. They would hang out often, chugging beer and watching soccer.

When Damien started sleeping over at Jeremy’s place the night before a work trip, Serena became suspicious. He also refused her offers to pick him up at the airport.

Serena wanted to know why Damien spent so much time with Jeremy, but he told her to “get off his back”. When she enquired about Jeremy’s love life, Damien would flare up, asking if she read his text messages.

But he would apologize later and claimed he loved her.

...more

The article itself doesn't surprise me.

However, the comments on the website are disturbing.

Serena Goh should take a real good look of herself in the mirror. It could be her character that has pushed Damien to react in such manner...he was straight but now....maybe Serena can't provide the things Damien urges for!

You are not born gay. That is a myth propagated by gay activists till it is scitifically proven. Till then it will remain an urban legend/myth. Soon we will have people claiming they are born incestuos, or born with a like for bestiality.

Better still they are born with a thievery gene i.e. he can't control stealing is in his gene. He is born with the likeness of stealing or pickpocketing.

The man who was initially "Straight"...how can be gay after the marriage which claimed by his wife to be wonderful?!...

If the man was born to be gay, why he marry with a women whom he may causing hurt if his wife know about his secret?!...

Seems pretty easy to read to me. Many gay men I believe had to marry under the pressure of hiding their homesexuality from everyone (even their own parents) and to try and fit into mainstream society. This is a case where a man found another man to love and couldn't resist the urge.

Jackie Chan: Singaporeans have no self-respect

Source: Asiaone

Action star Jackie Chan did not only offend the Chinese living in Hong Kong and Taiwan, his "speech of freedom" that drew widespread ire recently also spoke badly about Singaporeans.

He had apparently said that Singaporeans have no sense of self-respect.

Chan, who spoke last Saturday at the Boao Forum for Asia, said that the Chinese have to be controlled or society would be "chaotic" like that of Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Local Chinese evening daily Shin Min Daily News reported that in the action star's speech, Singaporeans too, were not spared.

During the forum's question and answer session, Chan said in his reply to a question from the media, "When I go to Singapore, I realize that chewing gum is not allowed there. Why is this so?

"I found out later that if (Singaporeans) chew gum, they will dispose of the used gum on tabletops, on chairs, and (they) have no sense of self-respect."

According to the Shin Min report, he also pointed out that unlike the Americans and the Japanese, "they" do not have that sense of self-respect. And when this is lacking, the government will have to step in.

Should one be sensitive, the action star's words might be interpreted as him saying that Singaporeans are not as orderly as the Americans or the Japanese. Compared to the people in these two countries, Singaporeans thus have less self-respect and in turn, are not allowed to chew gum.

This was not Chan's only comment about Singapore in his speech. The actor also spoke about the country's laws.

"When you reach Singapore, you must obey its laws, if you are caught littering, you will go to jail right away."

Wow! Who's next? Is he going to insult everyone in the world? If he insults Canada I'm coming after him!

She offered nude pictures for virtual pet gifts

Source: Asiaone

IT SEEMS she is willing to exchange real-life nude pictures of herself for something that exists only in cyberspace - items for her online pet.

Is that all her modesty is worth?

The question doesn't seem to bother the Facebook user, who introduces herself as Ling Er, an 18-year-old Singaporean.

Her offer has drawn some flak, even from other netizens who are blase about such shenanigans.

As one of them put it, she may have taken games addiction and online barter to a new low.

The teenager set up a Facebook group last month to get netizens to give her virtual items for her character in the popular game Pet Society on the networking site.

Birthday suit

The name of her group: My birthday suit contest.

To date, some 133 users have signed up as members of the group.

The game, which can be played by Facebook members who download it, allows them to create and play with a virtual pet, buy it items, and pit its 'skills' against those of others.

The object of the game is to acquire as many points as possible.

These points allow players to acquire more virtual items for their pets' homes.

On her Facebook group, Ling Er has appealed to netizens to give her their most valuable Pet Society gifts possible.

She claimed that senders of the best five gifts would get a set of nude pictures of her in return.

They have to do so by 1May.

She has even listed those who have sent the most valuable gifts so far.

The teen wrote on the site: 'I will send you guys pics of me in my birthday suit that I was born with.'

Er, does she mean baby pics, perhaps? Who knows.

But since the group was set up, it has attracted more than 100 members, almost all of them men.

Wow. Proof there are 133 idiots around. Once she gets your pets, she'll run. No way you're getting ANY pictures!

Facebook face-off

Source: Asiaone

IT SOUNDED harmless enough - a drink with a group of new friends.

But soon after, the gathering turned sour, and Mr Ong Jian Zhao, 21, found himself left alone at a bar, with a $213 bill to settle on behalf of people he hardly knew.
Mr Ong, a civil servant, got to know Miss Chloe Yoong, 21 - one of the members of the group - through social networking site Facebook last month.
He said: 'I was randomly browsing through profiles and I decided to send her a message.' After several messages over the course of a few days, they exchanged handphone numbers.

He then asked her out several times, but each time, she declined saying she was busy.
But on the evening on 28 Feb, Mr Ong received an SMS from her inviting him for a drink at Raffles Hotel's Long Bar with her, her boyfriend and three other friends.
Said Mr Ong: 'I was reluctant at first, but she told me to join them anyway and not to be a wet blanket.'

He recalled that when he arrived, there were already several drinks on the table - two cocktails, a glass of bourbon and a bottle of red wine.
He then chatted with the group for a while.

But after about 20 minutes, Miss Yoong and one friend left, claiming they were going to the toilet.Shortly after, while Mr Ong was away taking a phone call, two others left.

When he returned to the table, only Miss Yoong's boyfriend remained. But he, too, left immediately, saying he had to take a call. Mr Ong claimed he waited for about 30 minutes for the group to return but nobody showed up. When he SMSed Miss Yoong, she claimed to have left with a friend who was not feeling well.

He then paid the $213 bill for the drinks and left.

He had believed the evening was planned by the group of friends to get him into paying for the drinks. He said he had repeatedly tried to ask Miss Yoong for his money back after the session but she had been uncontactable. He even contacted the National Institute of Education, where Miss Yoong is studying, hoping to get hold of her.

However, he was told to settle the matter on his own. When contacted, both Miss Yoong and her boyfriend, Mr Alex Lim, 25, confirmed the incident. Mr Lim said they had decided to leave Mr Ong to settle the bill because he had implied that he wanted to pay for the drinks.

He said: 'When he came over, he kept bragging about how well he was doing and how well-off he was.

'It is ridiculous that he is asking us for the money back.'

Miss Yoong added that in their exchanges on Facebook, Mr Ong said he had planned to treat her to a drinking or clubbing session. Mr Ong did not dispute this, but said he had only planned to take Miss Yoong out, but not her friends. Said Miss Yoong: 'When he first sent me a message, he said he didn't have a stable relationship with his girlfriend.

'He asked me out to go clubbing or for drinks, and said he wanted to treat me.'
She added that she began to get annoyed by Mr Ong's persistent requests and decided to 'get him off her back' once and for all. 'It happened that my boyfriend was around (on the night of the incident) so we asked him to join us.'Immediately after he paid the bill, Mr Ong reported the incident to the police but was advised to settle the matter privately with her.

However, he claimed he has been unable to contact her since.

He said calls and SMSes to her handphone went unanswered, and she later deleted him from her contact list on Facebook as well.

What he hopes for is an apology and his money back. When asked if they would accede to Mr Ong's request, Mr Lim said: 'Are you kidding?'
He added: 'It would be a different matter if he had been polite and nice.

'But after all that bragging, it was really difficult to be cordial to him.'

So what do you think?

Mum’s my Facebook friend

facebook

Source: Asiaone

FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD Sheryl Seet does not just share photos with her friends on her Facebook profile.

She also shares them with her mother, whom she added to her list of friends on the social-networking site last December.

Sheryl’s mother, 41-year-old manager N. Seet, also sometimes receives messages on her Facebook profile from Sheryl and will chat online with her at work using MSN Messenger.

In fact, it was Mrs Seet who introduced the teenager to Facebook.

As Mrs Seet can reply to Sheryl’s online messages even at work during periods when she is less busy, Sheryl said that “it’s easier to communicate with my mother online than to call her”.

Sheryl is part of a generation of Internet-savvy children who are “friending” their parents on online social-networking sites.

An online global survey done in the last two months of last year found that one in four children aged eight to 17 added their parents to their list of friends on online profiles on sites like Facebook and Friendster.

Although kids will never admit it it's probably a good thing to have your parents involved in facebook. It would make the parent-child relationship more healthy and parents are pretty hip (they were kids once too) and would easily learn how to facebook as well.

Here's our own poll.

Are you friends with either of your parents on facebook?

The perfect 10

wedding

Source: Asiaone

FOR Ms Jerlyn Soh, the date on which she ties the knot is of utmost importance.

Not only must it be easy to remember, but it must also be “special” to her and her partner.

So Ms Soh, 27, was quick to decide on Oct 10, 2010 (10.10.10) for her upcoming nuptials.

In Mandarin, the number 10 – shi – can allude to shi quan shi mei – a Chinese idiom which means “perfect in every way”.

The private-school student told my paper: “We want our wedding to be perfect.”

She and her husband-to-be have been together for 10 months and they intend to have 10 bridesmaids and 10 best men on their big day.

“If possible, we’d even like to have 10 cars at the wedding,” Ms Soh said.

While they have yet to consult a geomancer on whether their chosen date is considered auspicious, Ms Soh said she will not change her mind.

“As long as the date is special to us, it shouldn’t matter whether it is considered auspicious or not,” she said.

This same enthusiasm cannot be said for Sept 9 this year, 09.09.09.

So superstitious! It's going to be a pain in the ass to have a wedding on a day that everyone else is having one too. These people are too superficial. I went to a wedding last year on 08.08.08. First of all it was a Friday so I was pissed off cause I had to work and then rush home and try to get ready and make a 7:00pm wedding. Plus it was no fun cause the bride was in an absolute panic because nothing was allowed to go wrong on this perfect day. Of course they're divorced now. They were not ready to marry but because of 08.08.08 they rushed into it. All because of a stupid number.

In this article if the lady is planning now for a 10.10.10 wedding then she has lots of time to prepare. But it's still going to be a shit show! The bigger the wedding, the faster the divorce I say!

Singapore needs immigrants to survive

Follow me to Singapore!
Source: Asiaone

Singapore, which is facing its worst recession in history, needs foreigners to survive in the long-term, founding father Lee Kuan Yew said.

The city-state is not reproducing itself fast enough and the government has in recent years opened its doors to attract more talented migrants to avert a serious population shortage.

"Without new citizens and permanent residents, we are going to be 'The Last of the Mohicans'. We will disappear," Lee, 85, told an audience at a local university late Friday.

Lee is the country's first prime minister and remains an influential figure. He is an adviser in his son Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's cabinet with the title minister mentor.

Singapore needs a fertility rate of 2.1 babies per woman to maintain its population naturally but a string of incentives including monetary ones to encourage Singaporeans to have babies has failed to make an impact.

Interesting. While other places like Japan and Korea forbid immigration, Singapore needs more people to come. There's not enough baby-making going on! Most of the immigrants would come from China or Malaysia I would guess.

School's out for kids

Why be home-schooled when I can be your study-buddy :)

Source: AsiaOne

Celebrity couple spurn primary schools to teach two kids at home.

SHE gave up her career to be a full-time mum and now she's a teacher to her children as well.

Former actress Evelyn Tan plans to home school her daughter Kristen, 4, and son Jairus, 2, all the way to Primary 6.

Evelyn, 33, and actor husband Darren Lim, 37, are expecting their third child - she is currently four months' pregnant.

The pros and cons of home schooling have been debated here.

Evelyn and Darren say they believe in it and are not worried their children will fall behind kids who go through the national school system.

Really? I can understand professionals such as teachers or nurses home school their children because they feel the public school system is poor.

What the heck do two actors know to be home schooling their kids? As far as I know the school system in Singapore is excellent and doesn't have as many problems as the public schools in Canada (and I am a fan of the public schools here).

Darren said home schooling was his idea because as a student, he used to feel like an 'outcast'.

The self-confessed 'non-mathematically-inclined' actor said he wanted his children to have a more 'hands-on learning approach' to schooling.

For that, Evelyn uses the Accelerated Christian Education phonics-based programme, which uses role-playing and storytelling.

So by preventing your children from being outcasts, you shield them from everything in the world. Smooth. These kids better be beautiful and be actors when they grow up cause they're going to be spoiled brats!
